TIME AFTER TIME

I recently read an article where Adrian Brody talked about time perception. He stated that time seems to speed up as we grow older. It most certainly does. If I may believe the theory thatour perception of time may be in proportion to the length of our lifespan,” it makes sense why all my conversations towards the end of the year have turned into “how on earth is it December already?”

Of Coffee And Conversations

I started liking coffee because of Vartika Chauhan.  I met her three years ago when I was working in a television show. As fate would have it, we always ended up sharing the makeup room and I must tell you, she made quite an interesting co-occupant. Calling out for her first of many cups of coffee for the day as soon as she stepped inside the makeup room, taking contemplative swigs from her cup while getting her makeup done, Vartika Chauhan was a true coffee addict.

How I Met My Model- American Swan Beauty & The Blogger

(If you haven't already, you should probably read this first: How I Met My Model - Part 1)

*The year is 2035*
Me: So where was I?

Kids: You just told us how you met Aunt Audrey for the first time. And it all sounds really interesting mom, but.. hehe, we really need to be..

Me: Oh yes yes! And now I'll tell you all about the three days of the 'Beauty and the Blogger' shoot!

Sleep , sunscreen and good battery backup, is what I wish I could have had more of in the 3 days of gruelling social media updating and task competing in the #BeautyNBlogger house. One of my most prominent and painful memory of those three days is that of running around looking for a charging point, even after keeping a power-bank handy. I and all the fellow contestants were all tanned and sunburnt after shooting in the sun continuously. And I guess the most amount of sleep that I got was of four hours. *Sigh* But at times like this, I tell myself that 'At the end of your life, nobody remembers the nights they got plenty of sleep.' And truly ‘Beauty and the Blogger’ has been one unforgettable experience for me.

While the host of the series Cyrus Sahukar had us in splits all the time ( 9 out of 10 things Cyrus says will have you 'Rolling On The Ground With Laughter'), Miss Malini mentored the Bloggers along with Anusha Dandedkar who mentored the Beauties.

How I Met My Model- American Swan Beauty & The Blogger Day 0: Arrival at The Corinthians Resort and Club Pune

Me: Kids, have I ever told you the story of how I met your aunt Audrey?

Kids: Umm No.. We would love to hear the story, but we were just on are way to..

Me: Oh just sit down, Now this is a story that you are going to love! It was way back in the May of 2014. American Swan in association with Famebox had launched a first-of-its-kind, online reality show Beauty & the Blogger.

8 Bloggers were going to be paired with 8 models to be pitted against each other for a 3-day challenge in Corinthians Resort and Club Pune.

We started from Mumbai early in the morning, but you know how it is, things hardly ever go as they are planned. Our journey came to an unexpected halt when our bus broke down. All of us contestants and the crew were left stranded somewhere on a highway where we had to wait for another bus to come to our rescue. And though it was scorching hot, we made the best out of the situation and started conversations with fellow contestants.

This is where I talked to the lively and friendly Audrey for the first time, who was actually doing a blogger’s job by making a vlog of all of us. Little did I know that this charming girl and I would be teamed up together!

We finally reached Corinthians around 3 o clock, way behind the planned schedule and as much as I wanted to drift around the splendid resort, we were given the schedule and were requested to have a quick lunch. My room was quite close to Bhumika and Shanaya's and for the next three days we three were practically inseparable.

Fashion Therapy: Seven Marvellous Audrey Hepburn Quotes

Audrey Hepburn may be one of the most influential style icons in history, but she cannot just be remembered for her immaculate style and timeless beauty. She spent her teens raising money for the Dutch resistance against the Nazis, she was a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, and won the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work. On her 85th birthday I would like to share with you some of my favorite quotes of her's, that made me fall in love with this beautiful woman's beautiful thoughts.

Loving And Losing A Pair Of Beautiful Blue Shoes: OOTD and "Youtube India Fanfest with HP" Snippets

I stepped out of the Bandra amphitheatre, feeling happy and fuzzy. It was overwhelming to meet so many Youtubers, some of whom I had been following for years! And as I always do at the end of a long tiring day, I changed into chappals. I kept my beautiful blue booties that I had been trotting around in all day long, inside a small carry bag and walked with my friends towards Bandstand to have chai, another ritual I follow at the end of a long tiring day.

There was something sinister about the breeze in Bandra last night, which at that time I was too preoccupied to notice. I kept down the bag I had my shoes (which were beautiful and blue) in as I picked up my cup of tea. Soon me and my friends were lost in sharing the days happenings and bouts of laughter. It was not until Magali asked about the bag that we noticed, that it was nowhere to be seen.

Wonderwall

Why did the blogger cross the road?

Karishma Rawat, Grey Pullover, Aztec Pants
To get swanky pictures clicked of her that's why!

I have nothing to say in my defense. What good excuse can you give if you are 8 months late. Long long ago, I had done my first outfit post where I had said that I would try to do more such posts and as you can see, that never happened. I should have known better, I mean I am the girl who has implemented her New Year's resolutions from February. *awkward laughter*

The 5 things you need to do in Chennai

Tamil Nadu
In the 24 hours that we spent in Chennai, we tried to take in as much of the pulsating city as possible. We reached Chennai in the evening after a daylong journey on the Chennai Express, and we were to board a train to Rameshwaram the very next day. Of course Chennai has innumerable things to do and places to see, but if you were on a time constraint as me and my friends were, this express guide may or may not be helpful to you.

But firstly, let me introduce you to my travel mates. They say “It’s not just about the journey, it’s about the company.” Well then Ramit with his phenomenal (personal joke *wink*) knowledge about food and travel, Nandini with her contagious laughter and the stupendously (another personal joke *wink wink*) poetic Arvind, were the best travel companions I could have asked for.

Of Neglected Secret Diaries - Part Deux

If only little Karishma knew that years later, an older and meaner Karishma would be posting excerpts from her secret diary. *evil laughter* I have talked about my abandoned secret diaries here before. And today, I am sharing with you an excerpt that was scribbled by me on a Saturday.. long, long ago.

Saturday Confessions: In your dreams (Short Story)

You dream of her blissful honey brown eyes smiling distantly at you. That is something that had always bugged you subconsciously, her detached, indifferent ways. But in diminutive, almost indistinguishable moments, you had seen her virtuous smile. And in her so many selfless gestures, you had seen a purity that soothed your diffident, meek uncertainties.

You saw Malhaar for the first time on the subway. Sitting on the window seat, she was engrossed in a book. You sat beside her, partly hoping she would take notice of you. You kept looking at her while pretending to look out of the window. Quick glances at first, but after observing that she hardly noticed you, you stared at her quiet daringly. She devotedly read the novel, going from word to word, line to line and at a point you noticed her honey brown eyes began to gleam. It took you a while to realize that she was holding back tears. Tears betrayed her otherwise composed face.

Salty colourless honey drops escaped her honey brown eyes.

“Everything fine mam?”
She looked at you a bit surprised, but answered politely “Just a really sad book. That’s all.”
You would remember these moments forever. When you were a stranger to her. You would miss your Malhaar like this for the rest of your life.

Winning The Indian Blogger Awards and A Sappy Winning Speech

When I got to know that GingerSnaps had won the category of Beauty/Lifestyle in the Indian Blogger Awards, like any normal person, I freaked out. I was like "Me? Really? Whaaa? I am not good enough! That other blog is so much nicer. Et cetera. Et cetera." I mean the IBA had one hell of a jury judging the nominated blogs, and the fact that they chose me was a bit overwhelming.

Then I did a little victory dance.

After that, I thought this would be a great opportunity to say a sappy winning speech, hence this post.

Saturday Confessions: 5 Completely Pointless Things About Me

Five Pointless Things about me.So.. I.. have not been regular with my “Saturday Confessions” posts. Hey, don’t look at me like that, it’s not like you have been dying to read these features okay! Anyway, I wanted to get back on track, and as usual, I don’t have any deep dark confessions to share with you. But then there are always silly things that can be talked about. Today I am going to tell you five completely random, pointless things about me.

1) At random times during the day, an old advertisement jingle, some music track of a Disney cartoon or an old Govinda hip-shaking number from the 90’s, may just pop into my head and then play as the back ground music for all my daily activities, all- frigging- day- long.
