Saturday Confessions: In your dreams (Short Story)

You dream of her blissful honey brown eyes smiling distantly at you. That is something that had always bugged you subconsciously, her detached, indifferent ways. But in diminutive, almost indistinguishable moments, you had seen her virtuous smile. And in her so many selfless gestures, you had seen a purity that soothed your diffident, meek uncertainties. 

You saw Malhaar for the first time on the subway. Sitting on the window seat, she was engrossed in a book. You sat beside her, partly hoping she would take notice of you. You kept looking at her while pretending to look out of the window. Quick glances at first, but after observing that she hardly noticed you, you stared at her quiet daringly. She devotedly read the novel, going from word to word, line to line and at a point you noticed her honey brown eyes began to gleam. It took you a while to realize that she was holding back tears. Tears betrayed her otherwise composed face. 

Salty colourless honey drops escaped her honey brown eyes.

“Everything fine mam?”

She looked at you a bit surprised, but answered politely “Just a really sad book. That’s all.”

You would remember these moments forever. When you were a stranger to her. You would miss your Malhaar like this for the rest of your life.

Winning The Indian Blogger Awards and A Sappy Winning Speech

When I got to know that GingerSnaps had won the category of Beauty/Lifestyle in the Indian Blogger Awards, like any normal person, I freaked out. I was like "Me? Really? Whaaa? I am not good enough! That other blog is so much nicer. Et cetera. Et cetera." I mean the IBA had one hell of a jury judging the nominated blogs, and the fact that they chose me was a bit overwhelming.

Then I did a little victory dance.

After that, I thought this would be a great opportunity to say a sappy winning speech, hence this post.

The Return Of The "Dear Blank" Jokes

Warning: This post has nothing to do with confessions. Or even with Saturdays for that matter.

A joke format of "Blank Blank hona chaiye, Blank toh Blank bhi hota hai" was circulating recently. Oh god I love such crazy joke formats. You remember the "Gubbarewala...Hmmmm" joke format? What on earth was that and what did it mean? Did those jokes have some hidden meaning that I didn't know of, please enlighten me if you guys know what I am talking about.

Anyway, a long long time ago, I used to share "Dear blank please blank" jokes on a feature called LMAO Thursdays on my blog (please don't ask me what happened to that feature. Just don't.) I was recently killing time surfing the DBPB jokes site again, and thought about sharing some of the good ones with you here.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 405 Coral Reef: Snap Review

Price: INR 225

Coral Reef is a crème finish, striking coral which borders on pink. Its consistency is quite thick, but it would still require two coats for a perfect, non-streaky, completely opaque finish. On my digits, this stays on without chipping from the edges for a longer duration of time than other nail paints, which is about 2-3 days. Which means it would stay on for a good amount of time on normal people’s hands (nothing stays on my nails girls, nothing.)

And it dries fast, which is a big plus point for me.

Add a little funk to your look- Lakme Colored Hair Extensions and Nail Art

I have had my share of adventures with hair color, (red, burgundy, light brown, chocolate brown, blue, I am not even kidding) so much so that I don’t have interest in colouring my hair anymore. I have fine hair which is very prone to damage and whenever and however I have colored it, it has resulted in my hair becoming lifeless. This monsoon Lakmé Salon has introduced two new services ‘Funky hair extensions’ and ‘Nail art’ to its existing menu. I was totally up for the idea of adding color to my hair without any potential damage.

These funky hair extensions made of real hair, are available at Lakmé Salons in three different colours-  red, blue and purple and can be tonged, ironed or just left as it blends perfectly with the natural hair. I got a red extension, and it took like a minute to get it fixed with some strands of my hair. These extensions are plied to your hair and the process doesn’t take much time at all.
