So as I was saying, on this day, one year ago, I wrote my first post on GingerSnaps about -Bodyshop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Mist. I remember when I used to click pictures of Nailpaints & Hair Masques, and my mother used to shake her head with a worried look on her face. I think I have almost made her understand about blogging, almost.

One year anniversary also reminds me that I should finally write in the about section what my blog is actually about.. Hehe.. For me GingerSnaps is like one of those things, If you do not ask me I know, If you ask me I do not know.. J I would update with a formal, boring, uptight description of GingerSnaps later, but honestly, this blog is about EVERYTHING. Everything that makes me “khush” in the “dil” everything that I want to share with the blogosphere. And this totally is the kind of blog where if you don’t know how to take things with at least four pinches of salt, don’t even bother reading.

*gets a little emotional*

What a wonderfully amazing year this has been. Through the world of blogging I have gotten to know some of the most incredible, beautiful, sexy, witty people, and learned a thousand little amazing things. And I wanted to thank all the readers, and fellow bloggers from the bottom of my "khush dil".

*sees that people are getting impatient and are stealing glances towards the dance floor*

Fail Products

I will start by saying that what does not work for me, might work for you and vice-versa, okayee..

I mostly review products that I like or love. This is a short post on products from hell!! These are the high end products that thoroughly disappointed me. I mean if the products are reasonably priced I usually don’t banter that much, but spending 500+ and getting no result really gets me angry.

“Sally Hanson- Thicken up” did nothing for my nails. I was surprised as usually girls love anything Sally Hanson. In fact it made my nail yellowish. :/

Don’t even get me started on “L’Oreal-Pure Zone Deep control Anti imperfection moisturiser.” It is supposed to control sebum and imperfections. Nada. Did nothing for pimples and blemishes, and even made my face shiny.

I know “L’Oreal Liss Ultime Shampoo” is a shampoo that girls regard highly, but it caused me major hair fall. I liked the way it made my hair feel, and not even for a second did I suspect that this shampoo might be the cause of my sudden increase in hairfall. Well I found out in time.

D.I.Y. Birthday Cards!

I really don't like it that much if a close friend of mine buys me a greeting card, they seem very formal to me. I would prefer a pack of chips over such cards any day (not that much a fan of chocolates you see :/).

But if you gift me a handmade greeting card (along with a gift of course J ), you are going to be on top of my BFF list :D. I believe Handmade greetings show sincere effort and also that you care big time for the respective person. And I’ll warn you beforehand, I can even get very emotional and teary eyed if the greeting calls for it.

“Hobby Ideas” has made making greetings by yourself 10 times easier(You can check out their site http://www.hobbyideas.net/) . If you visit their stores, you will be bombarded with choices and creativity. They even have custom Handmade Card Kits.

I bought this one!!

It costs INR215, and has the raw material to make 5 greetings. Making greeting cards from this kit was a lot of fun and super easy. The possibilites of what you can do with this kit are endless.

Next time you have a close friend’s birthday, do consider making handmade greetings….. And make them shed a tear :D!!

Nostalgia: “Small Wonder”

Okay who remembers, Small Wonder, I used to looooove this show when I was a kid. These videos brought back memories, thought you people might like it too!

Bourjois healthy mix foundation- The misleading SA and Indepth Babbling

Do you get irritated when you go asking for a decent loose powder and the SA’s shove some mineral powder foundations in your face? Well after this happened to me for like 20 times, i did get super irritated.

Anyway I had told you girls some time ago that I had been looking for a new foundation for oily skin. I even needed a loose powder. I had finally made up my mind to by Revlon’s colourstay foundation in combination to oily skin and had almost bought it, when I noticed that the foundation looked separated. It looked like two different colours were inside the bottle. When I inquired about it, the SA persisted that the foundation is in good condition and showed me the rest of the bottles which also looked like this. hhmmmm… but I knew that if I bought it, I wouldn’t be completely satisfied. So I went towards other counters when the Bourjois counter caught my eye. Now I have heard a lot about this healthy mix range and how natural it is and all that, but had never considered to buy it. The first question I asked the SA was if this had SPF, she told me it has SPF15. I also inquired if bourjois had loose powder which is used to set foundation . I didn’t want to rattle my brains out on this topic again so I just told her to pack bourjois healthy glow foundation and its loose powder.

Now when I was paying for this, the SA informed me that I had got a free Bourjois kohl and contour pencil. They had an offer on the purchase of products above INR 1500. Of course I got super happy. You know how we girls are.

At home when I was checking out these goodies I noticed that there was no SPF in these products. GASP. The SA had misinformed me. Urrghhh. But when I checked out the reviews online I relaxed a little cuz this healthy mix foundation has got majorly good reviews.

In fact this has also been voted as the product of the year for 2011!!

I was pretty sure that the powder I had bought was loose powder as I had even checked it out on other blogs before.. Turns out I was wrong!!

So when I was puffing up with this powder(which I have to do a lot cuz of the oiliness), after a while I noticed that things started to get a little caked up. After some hard-core research I found out that it indeed in powder foundation. Uuuurrrgggghhh again! I am not saying that it is bad, its just that you cannot puff up with powder foundation. It would definitely cake up.

So instead of a foundation and a loose powder, I ended up buying two foundations.

I’ll write the reviews about these products after using them for at least a week or two. Overall I am happy, I think I have made good purchases even if by mistake.

Have you ever come across “Dear blank” jokes? I am obsessed with them. They are funny and really creative. Here are a few of my favourites. (RIP) Revlon Colour Stay Mineral Foundation- Discontinued

The Revlon colourstay mineral foundation is no more. It had been my friend since December 2009. This was the first mineral foundation I had purchased. Its price was INR 1050. Guess there is no use of telling you how awesome it was. That it had SPF 10, it was great for oily skin, and gave medium –natural kinda coverage. Alas… no use of telling you all this, cuz it has been discontinued!! This is a tribute to you my friend. You are going to be remembered by women with oily skin all over the world.
