RELIANCE TRENDS PRESENTS TARUN TAHILIANI | LAMKE FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2015

Tarun Tahiliani’s “Easy Glamour” collection, a stunning line of perfect ready-to-wear offerings, presented by Reliance Trends at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 is absolutely enthralling!

The show commenced by International model Ujjwala Raut walking down the ramp with a looped black midi, followed by an assortment of black creations with occasional bursts of colour. A pleasant blend of drapes, exotic prints, black, gold, rust, velvet, brocade and tribal gypsy elements were prominent throughout the collection.

Perhaps now, the democratization of fashion has really begun. So it’s exciting as we distill our ready-to-wear line down more and more with contemporary everyday needs and allow the couture greater flights of fancy – and thereby bring logical offerings to the market place of fashion. After the exuberance of the Singh Twins we decided to tone down the palette for fall and do easier silhouettes that allowed an easy draped soho style – with the addition of easy capes and capelets, jumpsuit and sarees. Indian separates for Indian women. Clean, sensual draped little pieces that connect us to our past as we head into the future. So that we are not entirely western or overtly Indian for ceremony, but that we live in a cool, authentic space, connected to our past as we forge an identity for the future. So that we don’t dress only in borrowed identity.”

An eclectic mix of capes, saris, dhotis, tunics and jackets provides a variety of ways in which the garments from the line can be mixed and matched. The striking jumpsuit-sari, the ultimate blend of contemporary and ethnic India is a remarkable innovation by Tarun Tahiliani.

The showstopper of the evening was the gorgeous Chitrangada Singh, who graced the ramp in a black draped gown and velvet cape splashed with gold embellishments. Needless to say, Tarun Tahiliani’s magical prét-a-porter collection’s fusion of modern and ethnic India left the audience delighted.
