PEARL PORTFOLIO 2016 | MUMBAI

Akanksha Narang

When creativity gets a platform to flaunt its multi-hued feathers, the world stops and takes notice! Pearl Academy Mumbai’s persevering graduating students got their premiere Portfolio’16, packing the Bombay Exhibition and Convention Centre with art and appreciation. The mood was pensive; Parfums de France filled the air with sophistication, while heels waited to saunter into the venue.

The talent spilled onto the runway, with collections combining two essentials of a successful fashion label―design and commercial scope. Exquisite bridal wear, comfortable and chic maternal dresses, uber cute kidswear featured designs that could be worn right off the ramp. Inspirations ranged from warrior women to the planets. Let’s just say boundaries ceased to exist at this show!

About 70 projects across categories such as fashion, interiors, product design, and luxury brand management, evoked curiosity and awe among the appreciators, with Pearl students exhibiting their work as proud artisans.

What really set the tone for the evening was a new opportunity that can change the face of fashion industry’s future in India—Pearl Academy students would get their next graduation show at FDCI’s India Fashion Week! That, and the encouragement from industry experts such as fashion designer Nachiket Barve and Vineet Gautam, CEO, Bestseller among others.

Watch out folks, there’s some serious talent ready to be unleashed into the world of design!
